Navigating Salesforce Excellence
Updated August 2026. This post originally covered the free AI certification window that ran to 31 December 2025. That offer has ended and the AI Associate credential has since retired, so the post below reflects where things actually stand now.
Salesforce ran a genuinely good promotion between September 2024 and the end of 2025: free first attempts at its AI certifications. A lot of people took advantage of it. If you are arriving here now looking for that offer, the short answer is that it is over, and two other things changed alongside it that matter more.
The practical upshot: if you were planning to take AI Associate, that path no longer exists. Agentforce Specialist is the credential that replaced this area of the certification map.
This is Salesforce’s current AI credential. It covers building and deploying agents with Agentforce, configuring Einstein features, and grounding agents in Data Cloud, which is a substantially more hands-on scope than AI Associate ever had.
One thing worth checking yourself: sources disagree on whether Agentforce Specialist is still obtainable free through Salesforce’s AI for All initiative, or whether it reverted to full price on 1 January 2026. Partner-affiliated routes in particular may differ from the public price. Confirm on Trailhead before you budget for it.
The exam fee is the only part that went away. The learning did not:
If your goal is the skills rather than the certificate specifically, the free path is essentially unchanged.
Free first attempts are gone, but discounted vouchers are not. The routes that still work:
We keep the current routes and eligibility details in our Salesforce certification vouchers guide.
Certification pricing, availability and retirement dates move faster than any blog post can track. Before committing money or study time, check the credential’s own page on Trailhead, which is the authoritative source for what is currently offered and what it costs.
